Former Highlanders and Warriors midfielder Richard Choruma has encouraged Highlanders players to be banded together ahead of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match against Dynamos at Barbourfields stadium on Sunday.
Choruma (40), who was one of the pillars of strength in the middle of the park during his heydays at Bosso said in order for the team to win they have to work together as one.
'The players must be united and work very hard in training and should fight for places in the starting line up,' said the former Bosso player in an interview with Bosso TV yesterday at our studios in the Bulawayo central business district.
'It is an interesting match because both of these teams have not been doing well this season and both of them need to win in order to get their pride back and get back into form,' he added.
Choruma also said featuring in the Highlanders versus Dynamos game is a big deal for players because of many direct and indirect motivating factors that surround this game that is dubbed the battle of Zimbabwe. 'Dabuka Express' described the atmosphere as always tense for players, supporters and neutrals days before and after what is arguably Zimbabwe's biggest rivalry.
In his glittering career, Richard Choruma played in the middle of the park for teams like Phinda Mzala, Air Zimbabwe Jets before joining the Highlanders. He also played 15 times for the Zimbabwe Under 23 national team and appeared seven times for the senior national team, he is also a staunch supporter of English Premier League side Manchester United.
Currently, he is attached to Filabusi United, a club in the Zifa Central Region Division One league where he is a director of football. He also said he has the intentions of coming back to his beloved Bosso club however not as a coach but in the scouting department.
The battle of Zimbabwe will be on this weekend at Barbourfields stadium on Sunday. Both sides are currently in unfamiliar positions in the league with the Bulawayo side on position 15 while Dembare are on number 10 on the log standings.
