There were wins for defending champions FC Platinum, Chicken Inn and Dynamos, as Highlanders shared the spoils and Caps United lost in match day 13 of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this past weekend.
Newly promoted Manica Diamonds traveled to Mandava stadium in Zvishavane on Saturday to take on FC Platinum. The Manicaland based side were looking for maximum points away from home against current table toppers and defending champions but however, Norman Mapeza's men had other ideas.
A solitary goal from Cameroonian Albert Eonde was enough for the Platinum miners to maintain their lead on the table with 27 points.
Chicken Inn overpowered league debutantes Mushowani Stars at Luveve stadium in Bulawayo. The Gamecocks found the net as early as the 17th minute after on fire forward Clive Augusto converted from the penalty spot before Sipho Ndlovu made it two in the 32nd minute.
Augusto completed his brace in the 39th minute to extend his tally to 13 goals 13 matches this season. Mushowani scored the consolation goal late in the second half courtesy of their striker, Evans Katema.
Dembare's dominance over Chapungu continued as Ghanaian hitman Robert Sackey scored late in the game just when it seemed the teams were settling for a draw. It was Dembare's first win in three matches. The Glamour boys sit on position 12 with 17 points after recording four wins, four draws and five losses this season.
Highlanders settled for a draw against Ngezi Platinum in their first game under the tutelage of Mandla 'Lulu' Mpofu in a match that was played at Baobab stadium on Saturday.
Defender Peter Muduhwa scored a 70th minute goal to send 10 men Highlanders into the lead before Ngezi's Osi Miniru equalised for the hosts nine minutes later.
Caps United woes continued on Saturday as they lost by a goal to nil to ZPC Kariba. It was Kepekepe's third match in a row without without a win after they drew 3-3 against TelOne in their previous game and were thrashed by Herentals 3-1 a week before.
Nigel Makumbe's solitary strike was enough for Kariba to move to within two points of third placed Kepekepe who last won the premiership in 2016.
