Highlanders finally registered their first win under technical coach Mandla ‘Lulu' Mpofu when they edged Chapungu 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Barbourfields stadium on Wednesday.

Prince Dube was the lone goal scorer of the match after his 38 minute strike from the penalty spot found the back of the net and secured a win for the Bulawayo giants. Dube, however, had the first two close chances of the game coming his way, but he missed with the head on both occasions.

Denver Mukamba caused the Bosso central defensive pairing of Peter Muduhwa and Tendai Ndlovu problems. The second half saw Bosso failing to come to the party, which allowed Chapungu to take control of the game.

Bosso were sloppy in defence in the second half, perhaps with one eye already on the weekend's game against in form Black Rhinos.

Meanwhile, title contenders Chicken Inn were held to a goalless draw by debutants TelOne in a lethargic Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Ascot Stadium yesterday.

This was the first PSL game to be played at Ascot Stadium this season following some renovations.

The stadium had earlier been condemned for failing to meet minimum standards before the start of the season.

TelOne were forced to relocate to Barbourfields in Bulawayo; an arrangement they claim contributed to their poor run, which has seen them going for 10 games without a win and plunging into the relegation zone.

The Wi-Fi boys looked disoriented and struggled to find rhythm throughout the game.
