A platform to nature and develop chess playing talent has been availed in Bulawayo. Going by the name Chess Mates Academy CMA this institution will be based at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music near the trade fair. According to CMA public relations director Dr Machingura Sylvester the academy would be taking in budding chess playing talents from the ages of 4 to 22 years. "We were inspired by the exploits of young Tsepo Ndebele from Montrose girls high who is the reinging NASH national schools champion ".Machingura told Next Level Media. "One of our directors Mrs Prisca Sibanda met Tsepo Ndebele and noted that though she is super talented she comes from a humble background and underpriviledged, a situation that made it difficult for her to take part in international competitions. We then took her in and helped her to acquire documents that will enable her to travel to Namibia in November/December to represent the country"

This then led to the opening of chess mates academy which will cater for all young players in Matebeleland. The CMA is funded by the various sponsors who accepted the call. Meanwhile CMA will be taking part in various Chess Tournaments that are going to be conducted in the future and coaching and grooming of players will resumé in the next few weeks from the academy, echoed Dr Machingura Sylvester.
