Sunday Chidzambwa has 'resigned' as the Zimbabwe national team head coach.

According to reports, Chidzambwa handed his resignation letter to Zifa this afternoon barely a week after selecting his CHAN 2020 qualifiers squad and also a week before the team faces Mauritius in the qualifiers.

Chidzambwa made history by becoming the first coach to lead the warriors to the Africa Cup of Nations back in 2004. He also led the team to the just ended Afcon held in Egypt where Algeria were crowned champions after narrowly defeating Senegal 1-0.

He was heavily criticised for the performance of the warriors in the just ended Afcon and also for the squad selection he made recently for the 2020 CHAN qualifiers.

However, Next Level Sports had not received any confirmation from Zifa at the time of going to press
