Dzingai tips Warriors to be focused
By Mbekezeli Ncube
POWER Dynamos and former Yadah Stars captain Jimmy Dzingai has urged his fellow Warriors teammates to stay focused ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations opener against Egypt tomorrow at Cairo International Stadium.
'We just need to be focused and work very hard as a team, it's going to be a hard game. We are going to this game as underdogs but we are going to shock Africa, this is football,' Dzingai told our reporter.
The Warriors will feature at Afcon for the second successive time and for the fourth time in their history. The team's Afcon debut came in the 2004 tournament which was held in Tunisia, they went on to qualify for Egypt two years later and then returned to this showpiece in Gabon in 2017. However, the Sunday Chidzambwa coached side has never progressed to the knockout rounds of the competition.
Th 28 year old centre back has also played for teams like Triangle United as well as Caps United. Off the pitch, he likes to sing, in fact he was part of Jah Prayzer's band playing the role of drummer a decade ago.
'The late Oliver Mtukudzi is the one who inspired me to sing, I love the legend and I listen to his songs most of the times, I can even play a guitar while singing his songs,' said the former Yadah skipper.
The Warriors were placed in group A alongside hosts Egypt, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo.
