FC Platinum, Caps and Dembare drop points as Ngezi win

The match that highlighted the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match day 17 was a blockbuster one between log leaders FC Platinum and title contenders Caps United in a top of the table clash that ended in a goalless stalemate at Mandava stadium in Zvishavane on Saturday.

Both teams had chances to win the game but thanks to goalkeeper saves from both teams and some shots off target, the game ended all square after 90 minutes. The stalemate means Pure Platinum Play is still on top with 32 points while Kepekepe dropped from third place to position four.

Dembare and Triangle drew one all at Rufaro Stadium.

The Sugar Boys broke the deadlock thanks to Trevor Mavhunga 30 minutes into the encounter before Dembare's Godknows Murwira equalised after his free-kick took a deflection from Donald Dzvinyai 9 minutes later.

The visitors could have grabbed the lead again in the second half but Allan Tavarwisa’s header hit the post.

It was Ngezi Platinum Stars’ third win in as many games after winning in their home ground 2-0 against Harare City. Erol Ekbay's men made sure they collected maximum points thanks to goals from Barnabas Mushunje and Donald Teguru in two minutes and 20 minutes respectively.

Black Rhinos won away from home after overpowering Manica Diamonds 2-0 in a match played at Vengere stadium, Rusape. The crucial win for Chipembere means they leapfrog Caps United and Chicken Inn to second place in the log standings, two behind log leaders FC Platinum.

On Wednesday, Joey Antipas' Game cocks are away to TelOne while Highlanders will be targeting a first win in four games when they welcome Chapungu at Barbourfields stadium.
