Female boxer eyes World Championship status

BULAWAYO based female boxer, Sehliselwe Nhliziyo says her main target in her boxing career is becoming a world title holder.

The 19 year old athlete has had 26 fights so far in her career, winning 17 of them including four technical knock outs, she has suffered only five losses.

'My ambition is to become a world champion and I know with the great effort I put in my training sessions daily, I will make it no matter what. Boxing is my favourite sport and I love it,' said the 55 kg Super Bantum fighter.

Nhliziyo started boxing during her high school days at Sikhulile High School in Bulawayo. She revealed that boxing started of as just an option she took faced with the compulsory school policy that encouraged students to part take in at least one sporting activity. As time went on, she found herself falling in love with prize fighting.

'After sometime I realised that boxing is my sport and no one will ever stop me from being involved in it. I tried other disciplines like netball but by then I was already in love with boxing,' added the boxer who is coached by one of the well known boxing trainers in Bulawayo, Anderson Sibanda.

The aspiring world champion also revealed that she is in a romantic relationship with Thomas Jojo who is also a Zimbabwean boxer.
