The Zimbabwean National Netball side the Gems opened their world cup campaign with a 79- 49 defeat of Sri-lanka in Liverpool England. The Gems shrugged off negative issues around their upkeep to do light work of Sri-lanka.
Zimbabwe who became the 40th nation to participate in the Netball World Cup since 1963 will face off win Northern Ireland and Australia in group A. The Gems are one of the 4 African countries at this year's tournament. The other 3 countries are South Africa, Uganda and Malawi.
