Gems ready to shine

The Zimbabwe Netball team will make their maiden Netball World cup appearance in a tough group that includes highest ranked team in Australia. The world showpiece is set for Liverpool from the 12th to the 22nd of July in Liverpool, England.

The Gems, as the team is affectionately known by netball lovers was also drawn in group A together with another one of the best teams, Northern Ireland as well as Sri Lanka.

A total of 16 nations made it through to the world cup with Zimbabwe looking forward to perform well in their first ever appearance.

Zimbabwe currently sits on position 14 on the current International Netball Federation rankings. Australia are the number one ranked team while Northern Ireland are ranked ninth. Sri Lanka is the lowest ranked team in the group as they sit on position 19.

The Gems will roar their campaign into life when they lock horns with Sri Lanka on 12 July before facing defending champions Australia the following day, their last game of the group is against Northern Ireland on the 15th of July.
