WARRIORS midfielder, Marshal Nyasha Munetsi has divulged that it was God's will rather than his aptitude that brought him up to the national team set up.
Munetsi who left South African Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates following the end of the 2018-2019 season for French top flight side Stade Reims said.
'God has brought me this far, it's not because of my talent because there are a lot of people who are talented out there but it's his favour and I thank him for everything he has done for me,' said Munetsi in an interview with Next Level Sports TV.
Munetsi has played for several clubs throughout his career, he played for teams such as South African National First Division side Ubuntu Cape Town, before having a one year stint with Baroka where he scored two goals for the team on loan from Pirates, he then appeared 28 times for the Soweto giants between 2017 and 2019 seasons.
'I started playing the sport when I was around five years and besides passion, my parents always encouraged me to persue my dreams,' the midfielder added.
'Some parents may see that you have a talent but they will not give you the opportunity to go and train. I was very fortunate enough to have two parents who are caring enough to allow me to archive my dreams,' he said.
Munetsi said he never thought he will be called to represent the country in big tournaments such as the Africa Cup of Nations.
'At first I did not think that it will be possible, I worked hard in my previous season at Baroka thinking I might be called up but to no avail. By the time Mhofu (Sunday Chidzambwa) was appointed Warriors head coach and knowing his legendary status since I was young, I did not imagine myself being called to the squad by him,'
'I thank him very much because he has given me the opportunity to play for Zimbabwe and I think this will help me to be a better player even at club level,' Munetsi who never played locally said in his parting shots.
