Kanyere and Smyth REPRESENT ZIMBABWE AT FIFA WOMEN'S CONVENTION 2019

TWO Zimbabwean women’s football enthusiasts Kudzai Diana Kanyere and Praise Smyth have just returned from the 2019 FIFA Women’s Football Conventio which was held in France.
According to former Street Set and Midlands State University winger, Kanyere ,the Convention brought together the who is who in global women’s football. She said her pro-women’s football activism got noticed by a group called Fan Movement which she described as a team of smart and passionate women and men who will do anything possible to ensure that women’s football progresses.
“Two months ago l received an email from the Fan Movement informing me that I was part of the team that had been selected to go to France for the 69th Women’s football conference,”Kanyere told Next Level Sports tv.
She spoke in depth of her excitement and the Visa process being a bit of a hassle.
She added; “There was a request to invite a guest and I chose my best friend who is equally as passionate about women’s football as me ,Praise Smyth .On 3 June 2019 the actual journey began.”
According to Kanyere the pair arrived in France on the 4th of June where they were immediately invited for interviews with the Fan Movement.
“I then met my French-Canadian best friend who became our tour guide and translator and most of all made us feel safe and welcome.”
The 6th of June was Day 1 of the convention according to Kanyere and they were taken through steps to be taken by FIFA to ensure that professional players double in number in a year.
Kanyere said; “I hope I will be able to apply all I learnt and be a trailblazer in my area of focus particularly the growth and development of football and the commercialization of women’s football in Zimbabwe and Africa and the whole wide world.”
Kudzai Diana Kanyere and Praise Smyth returned home yesterday in the afternoon.
