KIMAN LANDS IN BULAWAYO

By Seth Mangena

The International Athletics Associations Federation Level Two coaching course roared into life this morning after the arrival of former Kenyan sprinter Geoffrey Kiman who is the facilitator of the program. The sprint and hurdle course will equip coaches with the relevant skills to mentor youngsters. Four nations are being represented, bringing the total number to nine participants, while three more participants will join tomorrow. Also in attendance was the National Association of Zimbabwe president Tendai Tagara and Bulawayo Athletics Board chairman Manuel Mpofu. Meanwhile the former sprinter praised Zimbabweans for growing and nurturing sprinters. “Zimbabwe is well known for sprints, therefore we need to have more personnel competent in the art of coaching sprinters. “The Kenyan legendary sprinter said this on the side-lines of the course at White City stadium. “I know in Africa we have the problem of equipment, but before we talk of the equipment we need qualified people to nurture the athletes. Zimbabwe, South Africa and Botswana are coming up; soon they will be powerhouses of Africa” said Kiman while speaking to our reporter on the side-lines of the course
