Nineteen year old female boxer, Monica Mnkandla has said that her main objective in her boxing career is to become the greatest boxer of all time.
Mnkandla, is a Nketa Boxing club boxer who started her career in Gwanda, her current coach is Clinton Waldman.
'I urge other women to join boxing because it is a great sport and it is also an advantage because you can manage to defend yourself in difficult times. Boxing is hard but it takes time and a heart to achieve in it,' she said.
In her 38 fights so far, Mnkandla has lost just two, her first loss was in Mozambique at the Zone Four games but she managed to grab herself a bronze medal and her second lose came at the hands of one of the top female boxers in Bulawayo, Sehliselwe Nhliziyo.
The promising young boxer also said her family never approved her love for boxing however they came to terms with that as time went on.
'At first my family did not want me to do boxing but later when they saw that I was actually good they enjoyed watching me and now they are calling me their champion,' Mnkandla told our reporter as she prepared for the fourth coming Sizinda wrestling and boxing bill set for the 6th of July.
The Sizinda wrestling-boxing bill was moved to the sixth of July from this Saturday due to the murder of one of the boxers, Ndanatsei Nyamukondwa who had been billed to take part.
