2018 Copa Coca Cola losing finalists Mpopoma High School defeated Mthala Ladies in an entertaining LAFA test match played at the school yesterday morning.
Mpopoma are using Ladies Amateur Football Association (LAFA) organised events to fine-tune themselves ahead of another shot at the annual Copa Coca Cola girls title.
Mpopoma High School fell behind in the game early after Mthala Ladies winger Leona Bhunu opened the scoring. The school girls quickly replied through Thando Sibanda, however Mthala Ladies quickly regained the lead through a lucky goal from Thabitha Mpofu. Mpofu, who usually plays in goals was surprisingly given a striker's role in which she was out of sorts the whole game, with her only positive contribution being a speculative shot towards goal that ended up hitting the nets.
The two teams went to the breather with Mthala in the lead though Mpopoma High School enjoyed the lion's share of possession

.
After the break, Mpopoma drew level through a Priscilla Marikhosi strike from what seemed to be an offiside position. This incident became the turning point of the match with Mpopoma running rings around Mthala Ladies.
Marikhosi then found the net again, to kill the match off a contest.
