T20 LEAGUE KICKS-OFF THIS WEEKEND

The Spar Bonsa T20 Cricket League roars into life at the Heath Streak Cricket Academy.
According to tournament director Duncan Frost the tournament will run from the 15th of july to the 30th of august 2019 and the matches will be played on Saturday and Sundays as each team will play one match per day hence six matches per weekend and teams will play twice against each other.
“The teams will consist of One National team player per team, four franchise players per team, four first league players per team, two second league players per team, two third league players per team, two under 19 players per team, 15 players per team,” said Frost.
Frost was speaking during the unveiling of this year’s squads and sponsors to the media. The title sponsors representatives Kalpesh Parshotam said Bonsa Spar is committed to support sport in particular cricket even though the prevailing economic conditions appear discouraging
“We are extremely excited to be backing this tournament in 2019; this is our second year of being part of what we believe will be a great piece of cricketing competition in the country. With this tournament we are proud to stand and let Zimbabwe know that we are behind local cricket and intend to escalate this competition to its highest levels through an inclusive approach and we hope that the nation gets behind it,” said Parshotam.
The competing teams are Mermaid Pools who are the reigning champions, FastJet Badgers, Canela Sabers, Pepsi Hawks, Fazak Power Raptors and National Fencing Tigers.
The tournament will be graced by national teams players Brendan Taylor (Pepsi Hawks), Christopher Mpofu (Badgers), Craig Ervine (Fazak Raptors), Sean Williams (Sabers), and Emsly Ndlovu (National Fencing Tigers)
