Former Warriors, Zimbabwe Saints and Dynamos striker, Agent Sawu has dismissed rumours doing the rounds that link him with a Warriors managerial role.
Sawu told Next Level Sports that he also got the news via the grapevine.
‘Those are just rumours, I also saw an article circulating on WhatsApp and sorry I can not help you any further on that one and I can not comment more on the issue,’ the former Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service funded Ntabazinduna football club coach said.
His response comes amid reports that have been circulating after the resignation of Warriors veteran coach, Sunday Chidzambwa last month. The reports state that Chicken Inn coach, Joey Antipas will be Chidzambwa's replacement while his assistants will be former Gamecocks coach Rahman Gumbo and current Dynamos coach Tonderai Ndiraya.
The reports state that Sawu will replace Wellington Mpandare as team manager while Highlanders’ Tembo Chuma takes over from Brenna Msiska as goalkeepers' coach.
However, Sawu could neither deny nor agree that he has received a formal approach from the Zimbabwe Football Association.
The 48 year old hitman had a glittering career during his playing days in both the national team and clubs that he has played for. He has played for teams like Dembare, Zimbabwe Saints, FC Basel, FC Wil, BSC Young Boys, Chanqing Lifan, Bush Bucks (South Africa) among others.
As a coach he was assistant to the late Willard Khumalo, Elvis Chiweshe and later on Ephraim Chawanda at Zimbabwe Saints, became head coach of South African outfit OR Tambo Cosmos in 2012 and then Ntabazinduna before parting quitting the team in 2016.
