In line with their objective to make sure that basketball is played at grassroots level, the Veterans Basketball Youth Development Association (VBYDA) has donated kits and equipment to Njube High school.
The donation was sourced from United Kingdom based Physical Education teacher, Sipho Phugeni who is also a member of the association.
Secretary General for VBYDA, Sinda Mono said the association responded to an SOS request from Njube High School.
'Some of our members who are teachers at Njube High School sent us a stress call requesting that we assist the school with basketball equipment in order to encourage the growth of the sport at this school that is located in the high density areas of Bulawayo,' Mono who is the current technical President of Bulawayo Basketball Association told BBAtv.
Three sets of kits and three basketball balls were donated to the school with the VBYDA also promising to donate a kit to Founders High School in a week's time.
The association also hopes to develop further grassroots basketball through interaction and dialogue with the primary schools sector and other stake holders.
'The hope is to partner schools in Europe such as St Thomas Moore (where Sipho Phugeni teaches) with the schools back home for continued support and growth of the game of basketball,' Mono added.
