It has to be a toss up between goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda who produced a string of good saves and Divine Lunga who kept Mo Salah under lock and key for the best performance of the night. The Warriors were defeated by a goal to nill after a lapse in concentration from the captain Musona gifted possession to the Egyptians,Zimbabwe failed to halt a stomping run by Trezeguet who curled it home.

“It was a game of two halves, we didn’t play well in the first half,” coach Sunday Chidzambwa conceded. The second-half saw the Warriors play with authority, substitute Evans Rusike had a fine chance but could not direct his header off a Chawapihwa cross.

Khama Billiat, who passed a late fitness test after a week in which he was troubled by a knee injury, was the liveliest upfront and even forced a smart save from Egyptian goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy early in the game.

Marvellous Nakamba,Tendayi Darikwa and Alec Mudimu also put up a commendable display. The Zimbabwean national team besides silencing a 80 thousand crowd for the better part of the second half, sent a message to Uganda and DRC that they will not be push overs.

Substitute goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze also pulled out a fine save from Salah towards the end,he came in for a injured Sibanda.
