ZIFA Bulawayo Province League Review

The Zifa Bulawayo Province Division Two League entered match day eight this past weekend and there were wins for The Bantu, Mountain Climbers, Mthwakazi, and the Bulawayo Chiefs reserve side.

Due to most of Lobengula Stars players' participation at the ZITCOSA games with the Hillside College squad, the battle for top spot between Bhekeni Celtics and Lobengula Stars was played a week before other match day eight fixtures with the result being a 2-1 win in favour of Bhekeni Celtics.

The sides have been neck to neck so far this season and only one point separates them. Celtics currently have five wins, a draw and two losses having collected 16 points while their closest rivals have four wins, three draws and their one and only defeat came at the hands of the table toppers, leaving them a point adrift.

Queenspark based Mountain Climbers had a crucial away win over Mpopoma Pirates when they won 1-2. The Climbers were at the bottom of the table and the win saw them leapfrog East Rovers and White Birds to claim 14th spot. They have two wins, two draws and four losses so far.

There was a six goal thriller between Chicken Inn reserve side and Khami United, the teams drew three all. Another stale mate saw Quality Foods and Howmine share the spoils 2-2. Mthwakazi claimed a 1-0 away win over White Birds while Sabona Mzilikazi did the same over Nabals.

The Bulawayo Chiefs reserves thrashed East Rovers by three goals to nil to shoot up from sixth place to position four. Amakhosi have four wins, two draws and two wins so far, they are also level on points with Quality Foods and the latter is on position three due to superior goal difference.

It's still early days of the season in this exciting league as only six points separate top placed Bhekeni Celtics and Mthwakazi who are on 10th place.
