While the country has suffered heart aches over the years in football for failing to qualify for the world cup it is quite interesting to note that in the sport of Polo the country is a regular feature at the global finals.Polo crosse was introduced to Zimbabwe in 1948 by a Dr H.M Strover .He had read about the sport in a magazine on a visit to England and on his return to Masvingo his home town he established a club.By 1968 ,144 players were registered in 12 different clubs throughout the country. The first international test against south Africa was held in Lady smith. In 1997 Zimbabwe actually were world champions after beating south Africa and Australia. The country currently has 7 clubs with a player base of about a hundred .The national team is currently made up of Andrew Baker,Graham Keith,Sophie sargeant,Suzanne Sargent, Ross shand,Paula sparrow, Daniel swan and kirsten swan -next level sport tv
